Shine Cosmetics Review

Hello! Today I want to share a bunch of new beauty products that I have been loving lately Shine Cosmetics. You all know that my blog is all about "Simply Everything I Love!" So I can not share this one with you :) I love getting and giving recommendations for things that I love and that I have a passion for. Here is my honest review after using these products for a full year.  All of their makeup is free of all the junk you don't want in your makeup. SCORE!
Lets get started! First off I love their sleek packaging and the colors they use (black, pink and silver).
Here is what some of the packaging and products look like:

I first tried the BB Cream....OMGosh let me tell you.....being a Cosmetologist and Makeup gal, THIS IS WHAT I HAD BEEN WANTING FOR IN A FOUNDATION FOREVER! I tried it and fell in LOVE within a few hours after application.
                                                           (nice natural "shine" glow)
I went to a booth last year and tried on the BB cream and some lip-gloss on. I told the lady that I would have to wear it for a few hours to know if it was something I would love before I bought any and if my skin would have any reaction (I have super sensitive skin) Within those few hours after putting it all on I kept feeling my face and I couldn't believe that I didn't feel like I was wearing ANY foundation at all! It gave me such a nice natural glow with full coverage. I always hated foundation and how cakey it would feel on my face, and that my pores couldn't breath with it on. I always had a hard time finding the right color, either it would be too orange or yellow on me or it would feel to thick. I thought... THIS IS A GAME CHANGER! I am in my mid 30's and I needed to start wearing something to smooth out my complexion but, I hated every foundation I had used up to this point. I have tried them all at Ulta & Sephora and I was about to give up hope on all foundations. Shine Cosmetics came to the rescue and I am so happy I tried it. What does BB cream do for your skin?

I can be outside in the 100+ degree weather and it NEVER beads up or melts off my skin. It is super long lasting. Full coverage that feels velvety soft on your skin. This seriously gets the label of High Designer Quality but yet at an affordable price. SCORE!!
Next lets talk Lip Gloss!!! I'm a gloss girl I have lip gloss everywhere I go. Again a product I am super picky with. What was different from Shines Lip gloss then others that I have tried? Well, it is never sticky or tacky. It lasts on your lips longer than the typical glosses out there. When I first tried it my lips were dry. I couldn't help but keep rubbing my lips together with the Shine Lip gloss on! It made my lips feel like silk and so luscious. I'm a HUGE fan of their Lip gloss. Admired is my favorite color.

After I tried these two products I did a little research on the company. Not only did I just fall in love with these two products I tried, but when I found out what this company stood for and what their mission was all about! My goodness this was an amazing company with a powerful message to be shared. READ ABOUT THEIR STORY HERE

WOW! Right?! A company that is empowering women to see their own inner beauty without needing to feel like they need to be this way or that way to be beautiful. A company that doesn't have ANY sleaze or sex related names on ANY of their products. You may be thinking...."I don't have any sleazy or sex related names on any of your makeup" go pull out your makeup and see for yourselves. I didn't think I did either until I payed attention. Wow there are so many names out there I don't want to be supporting in the beauty industry.

I have a daughter and knowing when she is old enough to wear makeup, she will have a company that has great products along with a powerful message for her to wear. It makes me excited! This makeup line is for all the young girls who dance, all the way up to us Mom's and Grandmothers. Makeup with a message, products with a purpose. How cool is that!

Then I got a few more products after the BB Cream and Lip Gloss. The next one I want to tell you about is the Eyeliner!  This one NEEDS to be in everyone of your makeup bags. Why?! NO more raccoon eyes ladies! It stays put ALL day. No running, smearing or smudging. You have 5 mins to apply it and work with it. Then when it is all set you can rub it go swimming and guess what?! It stays in place! These go on like butter. Super high pigment colors. One swipe application. You can watch this short video HERE to see what I mean...... you're welcome ;)
Next I would like to tell you about their brow kits. If you do not fill in your brows, you need too. You don't realize how filling in your brows makes everything look lifted and more put together. If you haven't and you start doing it, it will take some getting use too. But don't ever underestimate the power of shaping your brows.  They have a light kit and a dark kit.

I hope you have all enjoyed my review and I hope you will give some of them a try. They have so many other amazing products you can't go wrong with any of them. These are just my top 4 I use every day. You can look at their website HERE Also if you use this Discount code: Tawnya10 at checkout you can save 10% off your whole order. It never expires and can be used unlimited times. They offer a 30 day money back guarantee but I promise you wont need it. Once you get your hands on this makeup you will LOVE it! If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will get back to you ASAP. Have a fabulous day!

Contour & Highlight

Contour and Highlighting can make all the difference in your application of your Make-up. A great way to do this is by contouring the parts of the face that you want to appear slimmer and highlight the places you want to accentuate. Remember this my dear: light colors (highlight) bring forward and dark colors (contour) recede.

Here is how I like to put the highlight, blush and contour on my cheeks. It gives you a nice natural glow :)
The colors I love to use for these steps are:
Contour (CLICK HERE) color Power
Highlight (CLICK HERE) color Faith
Blush (CLICK HERE) color Enough

SHINE Cosmetics

Oh my goodness! This is my FAVORITE new makeup that just launch last month! Everything I have tried I LOVE. My skin feels so soft and lushes when I have it on. Have you heard of this stuff yet?? GLUTEN FREE & PARABEN FREE www.shinecosmetics.com/tawnya

I love the companies motto as well. It is Makeup with a message, products with a purpose! Nothing is more beautiful than a woman who believes in herself. YOU are beautiful! The world defines beautiful as sexy. We believe that beauty is defined by so much more! SHINE with us!

Moms, Grandmas, Aunts ANYONE! Have you ever payed attention to some of the names in makeup lines?? There are so many names out there that I wouldn’t want my daughter to wear or me for that matter! Here are just a few I found (lipgasm, please me, nymph, seductive, hot gossip) just to name a few. No names like these with Shine Cosmetics.
Here is a video to watch
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEyw1HwbbR0

I am going to share a few pictures with you of some of what they have along with a few pictures of my own results.
I have tried 3 other companies Fiber Lash Mascara and I hated them they were either to dry to clumpy and couldn't get the results you always saw pictures of so I was skeptical on this one BUT ladies this is REAL results AND the fibers stay in place and don't flake off on my skin....WHAT?! I KNOW!! LOOK at my results!!! I also have the Fiber Brow on one side as well & I am really liking it too along with the BB cream.

If you have eyelash extensions guess what? The eye liner isn't oil based and safe to use with your extensions. Pretty cool huh?! They go on like butter and the colors are so pretty.

Eye Shadows stay in place ALL day without ceasing or loosing pigment and again LOVE the colors!

Their BB cream is so silky and soft. When I first used it I couldn't help but feel my skin throughout the day! The 2nd day I wore it I got 3 different compliments at the store from complete strangers asking what I used for makeup because my skin was so pretty and had a nice natural glow to it.
You can check out everything else they have at this website www.shinecosmetics.com/tawnya
They offer a 30 day money back guarantee.

Ditch the Wax...Tinkle instead!

Oh my GOODNESS this is my new favorite thing ever right now! Do you Tinkle? Why did I not know about these sooner. Do you wax your face, lip or eyebrows?? Ditch the wax and Tinkle instead! I am a Cosmetologist and I have waxed people over and over and no matter how many times you get waxed it always still hurts EVERY time.  I have waxed my eyebrows and upper lip for years. But I will not be going back to waxing them ever again because I have discovered these awesome little tools.

I have only used it on my upper lip and eyebrows since Christmas of 2015 to make sure I would like the results. I do have some peach fuzz by my temples I am going to "Tinkle" soon. I have NEVER had my upper lip or eyebrows grow back darker or stubbly AT ALL. I seriously LOVE these and the best part is there is NO PAIN like there is with waxing! When you wax you are pulling out the whole hair root so you can have it grow back a little different  texture then before you waxed. With these you are just scrapping the surface so there is no change in texture at all.  I’ve never nicked my skin with a Tinkle nor do I experience any discomfort while shaving or after shaving.  This is a must-DO NOT SHAVE YOUR FACE WITH A REGULAR RAZOR.  Trust me. The blade on a regular razor is made completely different then the Tinkle blades.

Here’s What You Need To Know:

  • Only shave your face after you’ve cleansed your skin.
  • If you are sensitive or very dry, apply a thin layer of moisturizer or coconut oil before you shave your face.
  • Always use tiny downward movements. Keep your skin taunt in the area you will be working on.
  • Don’t shave your forehead-You probably don’t need to and it’s hard.
  • You can shave your sideburns and cheeks and upper and lower lip.
  • Not only will you remove hair, you will also remove dead skin!!  Yippee!
  • Always use a toner and moisturize afterwards.
  • I shave about 2x a month but you could shave weekly if needed.
  • Hair will not grow back stubbly or dark.  First off, it’s impossible to grow back darker and this razor is so gentle that it doesn’t chop the hair off like a normal razor would so it grows back soft!  I’ve never had stubble.
  • Your skin will feel smoother and your makeup will go on and look smoother as well!
So if you want to ditch the wax and Tinkle instead like me  CLICK HERE to buy some, they are on sale and under $7.00 for a pack of them! They will last awhile I am still using the same one I got for Christmas and it isn't dull yet.

Do You Have Sensitive Ears?

I have sensitive ears and if I use the cheaper earrings in my ears they always get infected. I for one don't like having to spend a fortune on jewelry. My solution I have found works wonders and I am able to wear a bunch of earrings that otherwise I wouldn't be able to.

What is my secret?  Dipping the end of the earring into Aquaphor before putting the earring in my ears. It works wonders. Give it a try and tell me what you think. If you want to order Aquaphor at a good price CLICK HERE

Nail Polish Holder

Using a nice metal spice rack makes for a wonderful nail polish holder. It looks classy and you can fit a bunch in without having to use a big area to take up too much space elsewhere. I love to place mine in my bathroom behind my door. This is a great organizing tip I sure have loved using for all of my nail polish.

New Favortie Beauty Product

I know I have posted some home recipes for lip exfoliators, I just bought this today and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! I had to share it with you. The best part is it only costs $3.00 also, the fact that it REALLY works. So what is this new found love of mine? E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator. Just use circular motions all over your lips then wipe off with a wet cotton ball. Your lips will be soft as silk and oh so kissable for your special someone :) Anytime you have chapped lips you can carry this with you and not have to worry about whipping up a homemade mix.

Homemade Natural Lip Exfoliator

It never fails with spring coming to have dry everything from the Winter i.e. hair, hands, feet and even lips. Today I want to share with you one of my favorite ways I like to exfoliate my lips after a dry Winter. Here is what you need:

I mix these ingredients into a ceramic or glass bowl, you don't need a lot. After it is all mixed together use a disposable clean Mascara Wand and apply it to your lips. Gently massage with the wand in a circular motion. I LOVE how this makes my lips feel and look. If you have really dry lips do this once a week until you feel like you have gotten them nice and smooth. Enjoy, and have a wonderful day!  Let me know what you think if you give this a try :)

Remove blackheads with baking soda

Stubborn nasal blackheads are quite possibly the most annoying facial problem. If you’re tired of using pore strip after pore strip, try this mixture instead.

Make a thick paste using only two simple ingredients: water and baking soda. Apply to stubborn blackhead areas like the nose and forehead. Let it sit on the skin for a few minutes before rinsing with warm water. The baking soda helps rid the skin of debris and dirt while shrinking pore size. Think about using this mask three times a week for best results. The best part is everyone has some baking soda around the house and it is much cheaper than the pore strips. Enjoy!

Beauty Tip

Exfoliating your skin is very important. You need to rid your skin of all the dirt and other junk we are exposed to everyday from the environment.

Right now these exfoliation wands are very popular, and can be pretty pricey. My trick that I use will give you the same results. Get the cheapest wash clothes at Walmart (they are rougher and only $4.00 for a pack of 18)  use them with your favorite face wash. I like to use it in the shower so the steam will help open your pores and you will be able to get all the dirt and oils out of your pores in a fast and effective way. When you are all done your face will feel so smooth and soft. The best thing is you don't have to break the bank to have nice skin. :)

How to Tweeze Your Eyebrows

A pair of well-groomed and shaped eyebrows makes all the difference to your look. To get the perfect set of eyebrows, you don’t need to be a professional but you will have to follow some basic rules when you are grooming your eyebrows. This diagram is for tweezing or waxing. Click HERE for a great set of tweezers

For less painful tweezing, try to tweeze the brows after you have taken a hot shower. Hair follicles open up and hence pulling them out becomes easy and less painful.

Study the shape of your face. Know what type of eyebrows will suit your face, fuller, thicker or thin. The arch is an important part of the brows and care should be taken in shaping them; do not make it too high.

Choose the right tweezers, a slant tip allows precision and helps to avoid accidentally pinching your skin while tweezing. Use a creamy white or black pencil to outline the brows and mark the desired shape.

Shape is the most important feature in the tweezing or waxing process, in the diagram at the top of the post here is what you need to do:

Take a long pencil or a thin brush and line it along the side of the nose, the brow starts right above the tear duct.
Now, take the pencil/brush and with one end on the side of the nose and make a 45 degree angle. The invisible line should go right through the pupil and the spot where the pencil hits the brows will be the highest spot and will determine the arch shape and position. Place one end of the pencil at the nose line and the other end along the outer corner of the eye, both should meet the brow. Keep in mind that perfect looking brows have a slight arch so do not make it unnaturally higher or very arched. Brush the brows upwards with a brow brush/ toothbrush and see if you need to trim them.

Pluck the hair on or outside the line, start from below the brow. Do not pluck the hairs above the brow, they help to give you a nice arch.

Those who have gaps and uneven growth, can fill in using a dark brown eye shadow or use a brow kit to make your brows look more natural. Black looks unnatural, a shade lighter always helps.

Happy tweezing!

My Top 5 Hair Tips

Hair is a reflection of your health & personality. If taken care of they can add to your beauty. Your hair and scalp need proper care now and always. When it comes to your hair there are so many things out there on hair tips and tricks. As a licenced Cosmetologist these are some of my favorite hair tips I want to share with you today.

1) Your hair has memory and it is so important to change up your normal routine to get the full benefits out of a hair care product. What I mean by this is, if you use the same shampoo and conditioner for years your hair isn't going to get the benefits it could be. Your hair will just get used to the same properties in a product. My rule of thumb is to have about 3 or 4 different shampoos and conditioners and alternate them every 2 weeks or so. This also helps your product last a lot longer. Use one of your favorites for moisture, one for damage, one for color treated etc. I have 4  different shampoos and conditioners in my shower that I alternate. When I do this my hair is a lot  healthier and, I can tell a big difference. Try to use professional products as much as you can yes, they can be pricey but the technology in them is worth the money spent and the results are amazing.

(I switch them up a lot but these are what I use right now)

2) Use a deep conditioner every week.  Any that you buy, professional or not it will normally say to leave on for 3-5 mins. That is not nearly enough time to allow for you to get the full benefits. Here is what I do: Make sure you have 35 mins of free time. Wash your hair, put on the deep conditioner or mask (same thing) and let it sit on your hair for 30 mins and put a shower cap on to allow it to soak in. The last five minutes put your blow dryer on to allow the cuticle of your hair shaft to open with the heat and let the conditioner soak down to every layer of your hair shaft. Let cool for 5 mins before you rinse it all out. Dry your hair and you will feel a HUGE difference in your hair. After you do this for a month straight, cut back to only once a month maintenance. Salons have professional grade deep conditioners that work awesome and that you can't buy over the counter. One of my favorites is, Redken Chemistry Shots, just make sure they leave it on long enough to get the full benefits.
3) Dry your hair with your head upside down to get some natural volume. Once a week let your hair air dry without heat. Use a blow dryer with NanoIonic Complex (a blend of 32 natural-occurring minerals) that emits Natural Negative Ions in to the hair. Natural Negative Ion energy is powerful enough to break down clusters of water molecules into fine particles that penetrate the hair shaft, to re-hydrate, re-condition and restore moisture balance. After using the Bio Ionic product system, hair feels smooth, super-soft and looks silky-shiny. My favorite is the BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium blow dryer and I love their straightener as well You can get them HERE and HERE. Again it is more pricey than a Walmart or Target brand blow dryer but in the long run it will save you money because you will not have to replace this every year. These have a 4 year warranty and they are worth every penny in my book. Your hair will love you for using higher end hair tools. :-)

4) Use PRODUCTS in your hair before you dry it and after you dry it. There is a lot of hair care products out there so how do you know which ones are right for your hair? Well, trail and error there isn't just ONE product that will work for everyone. Every ones hair is different and has different needs BUT the nice thing about hair products is they really have a lot of technology behind them and  they are meant to do what they say they will do.  Find ones that work best for your hair in these categories. Everyone need a  blow dry protectant spray. Heat is harmful to your hair that is why we have products specifically for the heat elements of a blow dryer, straighteners and, curling irons. My favorite is Kenra Blow dry spray ( use on wet hair). Next you should be using a root lifting spray. Hands down my favorite is Redken Guts (use on wet hair), this is a product that everyone can use whether you have thick or fine hair it is AMAZING! Then you should be using heat protectants for straightening or curling your hair. The heat elements are different then the blow dryer. Some of my favorites for straightening is, Redken iron silk or Kenra thermal styling spray ( use on dry hair). Use these sparingly you don't want your hair to sizzle AT ALL when you use these otherwise you are using too much.  You should use a frizz or shine gloss to tame down fly aways and prevent split ends. Just don't use any that have alcohol in them, it will dry your hair out. Next you should be using a good hair spray to set your style, Kenra 25 is the best hands down. CLICK HERE  Avoid products that leave build-up on your hair. If you see white gunk, that means that your product is not water-soluble and may be coating your hair shaft. Build-up causes limpness, breakage and inability to curl not to mention the white flakes.

5) Get your hair trimmed on a regular basis (approximately every two months). This is especially important for growing out layers and/or bangs to reshape and make each stage of growing hair out a style. You need to have a nice clean edge to prevent any split ends. Most importantly have the right cut for your bone structure and face shape CLICK HERE and CLICK HERE

Some Face and Body Favorites!

Today I would like to share with you some of my favorite face and body products. It was hard to just put a few on because there are so many out there that are great.

* I LOVE Aveeno active naturals daily moisturizing lotion for an all over body lotion. My skin stays moisturized all day. It is non greasy and it has an oatmeal formula that locks in moisture. It is also fragrance free so you can still use your favorite perfume with it. (CLICK HERE TO BUY)

* If I want to have a nice subtle smell with nice moisture I use, Hempz Citrus Blossom. It smells so nice and refreshing but not too over the top.

* If I feel extra dry I like the Aveeno 24 hr ultra hydrating whipped souffle.

* My FAVORITE perfume is Ed Hardy

* My favorite moisturizer for the face is this Coconut oil....so divine!

* I use one of these every time in the shower, its a must.....now with spring and summer time just around the corner this will be your feet's best friend :) You can get this one at Sally's Beauty Supply... Mr. Pumice

* Body wash I love Aveeno any of them  ( I know...I like a lot of Aveeno) this is the one I am using right now, my skin feels so nice after I use it.

* Face wash...I like a lot out there but what I am using is, Clean & Clear Morning Burst.  I LOVE it! It's really good to use something with scrubing beads to sluff off all the dead skin which will help get all the yucky dirt and grim out of your pores. You just need to use it 2-3 times a week. I also like to use homemade face masks and scrubs which I have posted on here already just look under the beauty label to find some of my favs :)
* A more gentle everyday use would be these cleaning pads. I love that they have a smooth and ruff side on them. The smoother side I use around my eyes and then flip it over to scrub the rest of my face. It also takes off eye makeup really well. I just LOVE these!

One of the best pieces of advice I could give you for body care or skin care is, DON'T use ANYTHING with mineral oil in it!!!!  Mineral oil is a petrochemical product, which means that it is derived from crude oil. It is a by product of the process used to create petroleum products (gasoline) So if you use products with it, you are basically putting gasoline/crude oil on your skin, which your body is absorbing.  Now you may be wondering why almost 95% of creams, moisturizers, make-up and body products contains a by product of the crude oil to gasoline product? Well business is about making profits as we all know. The cheaper the ingredients means the cheaper it is to produce which means more profit.  Mineral oil has also been linked to a number of skin problems, including acne. The problem with mineral oil in moisturizers and other skin care products and cosmetics is that it clogs the pores of the skin which interferes with skin's ability to eliminate toxins. You can judge and do your own research on Mineral Oil but I choose not to use any skin care or body care products in the last 10+ years that contain Mineral Oil. It is all a personal choice ;-)
